Chris served as an Infantryman in the US Marine Corps, from 2008 to 2017. During his time in service he served on two Marine Expeditionary Units, and one combat deployment to Helmand Province, in Afghanistan.
While in the Marine Corps, he met his wife Misty and had one daughter, Ryley. After leaving the Marines in 2017 Chris’ second daughter, Reagan, was born. From 2017 to 2022, Chris served as a Deputy Sheriff with a local agency in North Carolina. While working with the sheriff’s office, he served as a patrol deputy, and then eventually served as a K9 handler and trainer, from 2020-2022.
Chris has been training dogs since 2017 when he got his first Malinois, Murphy. Shortly after finding his passion for training dogs, he attended several schools and seminars which led to starting his own business, Backyard Canine Academy. Chris is also involved in the Protection Sports Association, a competitive dog sport. Currently he has achieved a PDC (entry level certificate) on two dogs, and a level one title, on another.
