DONATIONS + VETERAN REGISTRATION

Charlie Mike programs and services were created with a specific purpose in mind: to create peace, healing, and a sense of stability. These programs are tailored specifically to the needs and interests of military veterans, and to achieve these desired outcomes. Our Canine Battle Buddy Program is at the core of this approach.

rescue a dog,

rescue a veteran.

Dogs bring immense joy and love into our lives. Dog training is essential for the well-being of both dogs and their owners.

rescue a dog,
rescue a veteran.

Our Approach: Rescue

01

identify dogs
to rescue from
animal shelters

02

test + evaluate
potential dogs
for program

03

selected dogs
receive 2-4 months
of specific training

Every year, millions of dogs are abandoned at animal shelters, and hundreds of thousands are euthanized. Our Canine Battle Buddies are chosen from municipal animal shelters and other rescue organizations. They are carefully selected, evaluated, and tested for characteristics such as intelligence, motivation, temperament, food drive, motivation, and disposition.

Rescued dogs receive medical care to become or remain healthy, and have regular veterinarian visits. Potential Battle Buddies receive two to four (or more) months of training in a program we have developed to create capable, competent, and obedient companion dogs.

To “graduate” the program, they are constantly evaluated and tested on specific sets of tasks, behaviors, and criteria of a practical nature. We want to ensure a high potential of success for our veterans, and our Battle Buddies. In addition, there is no cost to a veteran to adopt a Canine Battle Buddy from our program.

Our Approach: Battle Buddies

One of the objectives for this program is to fill a specific space within the canine rescue and training community that does not exist anywhere else, especially for veterans. We offer a solution that lives between simply adopting a pet on one end of the spectrum, and what most people think of as a “service dog” on the other.

Service dogs are amazing, and fill an important, powerful role with people who need that service. Many veterans, however, don’t need a “service dog,” and the more specialized or specific training that those animals require. Service dogs can take anywhere from six months to two years to train, and can often range in cost from $30,000 to $80,000. Some service dog organizations, unfortunately, also have a multi-year waiting list.

Veterans who experience the results of combat trauma, PTSD or TBI, or who might be significantly struggling, can benefit from a well-trained, intelligent, disciplined, and loving dog – a Canine Battle Buddy – without the need, timeline, and expense of a “service dog.” This is our sweet spot.

Through this important and rewarding effort, we double the impact of a good cause:
rescue a dog, and as a result, rescue a veteran.

Nala’s first session!

This girl is excited and ready to work! Throughout this session, we really focus on gaining engagement from the dog. We reward for eye contact and settled positions. With a happy wiggle butt like herself, rewarding her sits are super important. As you see the throughout the video, she picks up on this super quick. We are so excited to have Nala in our board and train program! She is a rockstar. ⭐️

We are so grateful to our board and trains. 100% of the money goes towards rescuing dogs out of shelters and training them for veterans! Train and dog, save a dog, save a veteran.

If you would like to have your dog trained to the Charlie Mike standard, send us a message or visit our website at Charliemike.org

🐾A Heartfelt Thank You from Charlie Mike Battle Buddy… ALASKA!🐾

We are floored by the incredible response we received for the naming of our recently rescued Charlie Mike Battle Buddy, and we are thrilled to announce that she's officially named Alaska!

As we embark on this journey together, Alaska will be going through a decompression period and a series of health check-ups to ensure she's in the best possible shape to support a Veteran in need.

But we can't do this alone - we need your help! Donations are crucial to fund her training and care. Here are some fun ways we can raise funds as a group:

1️⃣ **Social Media Shoutouts:** Share Alaska's story on your social media platforms, and encourage others to donate or spread the word.

2️⃣ **Shop + Share our SHOP FOR DONATIONS page:** On our website you can shop specifically for items needed. You get to pick exactly where your money will go towards to.

3️⃣ **Donate your coffee money** It’s a small amount for you / yours, but it adds up in the long run as more people join.

4️⃣ **Community Challenge:** Set up a challenge (e.g., fitness, art, or talent) and encourage people to participate for a small donation.

5️⃣ **Donate your B-Day** This can be easily done virtually or if you feel inspired even in person.

Every dollar counts and will make a world of difference for Alaska and the Veteran she will one day support.

Thank you for your generosity and unwavering support. Together, we change lives.

Save a Dog. Save a Veteran.
